Day 2 - Prometheus Cave, Kutaisi City Tour, Gelati and Motsameta Monasteries

Kutaisi City Tour - Kutaisi is one of the oldest cities in the world. During the city tour we will walk around the city center with a guide and visit the sightseeing in the historic districts, including the Jewish and Catholic districts. We will visit the Jewish Synagogue and the former Catholic Church.
Visiting Kutaisi Historical Museum. The museum preserves unique samples of the country's cultural heritage from ancient times to the late Middle Ages. Among them are the monuments of Bronze Age and antiquity discovered as a result of archeological excavations in the territory of Western Georgia. Here one can see rare items reflecting the history, life and culture of Georgian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Eastern countries, ethnographic materials, goldsmithing, metal, ceramics, leather, glass, fabric, highly noticeable specimens of wood products etc.
After completing the Kutaisi hiking tour, we will move to Ukimerioni Hill and visit the Bagrati Temple, which was built in 1003 by the first King of United Georgia, Bagrat III. The temple is an excellent example of medieval Georgian architecture.

We will drive from Kutaisi in the direction of Motsameta Monastery. The monastery was built in VIII-XI centuries, it is located in the beautiful valley of the river Tskaltsitela.
Gelati Monastery, founded by the greatest Georgian king David IV the Builder. Its construction began in 1106 and was completed in 1130. Gelati Monastery was the religious, cultural and educational center of Georgia. Gelati Monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 4 - Vani Ancient Town and Museum

Drive to the direction of Vani. The Vani Archaeological Museum and Ancient City is a list of UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. Archaeological excavations in the city revealed a highly developed culture of classic era city. Archeologists think that this place was described in the mythical land of Colchis, where Jason and the Argonauts traveled to obtain the Golden Fleece. A large part of the archeological treasures of Georgia is the golden fund found in the city of Vani. The museum exposition covers the period from VIII to I century BC. Here is an exposition depicting the presence of Vani as a temple city. The permanent exhibition presents architecture, goldsmithing, bronze sculptures and their fragments.
Geyser of Dikhashkho. Geyser hot water flows from the ground and accumulates in 2 artificially arranged pools. Due to its unique visual and healing properties. Dikhashkho Geyser is one of the most popular places in Imereti region for tourists.

Day 5 - Katskhi Column, Katskhi Monastery, Modinakhe Fortress

Departure in the direction of Chiatura-Sachkhere. Katskhi pillar is a 40 meter high natural limestone monolith. It became known to the public, when the first ascent of the expedition was carried out on the pillar in 1994. The researchers have found the remains of churches and other buildings dating back from V-VI centuries on top of the pillar. It is believed that they were built by hermit monks from the Middle east. The construction of monastic chapels in such places were linked to extreme ascetism which was spread in prehistoric Asia in the VI century and, above all, in Syria, which Christian Georgia had close relations with. Currently, a monastery church and cells for hermits are built on the Katskhi pillar and a hermit monk serves there.
Visiting the Mgvimevi Monastery. Mghvimevi Nunnery, founded in the 13th century, is one of the most unique monuments in Georgia. The nunnery complex consists of many buildings. The main temple is named after the Savior. It is a two-aisled basilica, which are separated from each other by arches supported by massive columns. The facade of the building is decorated with very beautiful carvings. There is the Mghvimevi cave behind the central temple, where services are held on major holidays. Another attraction of the nummery is the small hall church. Its ceiling and west wall are natural rock. A head of a ram is engraved on the east wall of this church, and there are frescos on the outer part of the south wall. There are other architectural buildings of the nunnery: the bell tower and cells for nuns.

Visiting Modinakhe Fortress - Built in the 18th century, it is an important historical and archeological monument. Bronze and antique artefacts are found here. There is a beautiful panoramic view of Upper Imereti from the fortress. The fortress was built in the 30s of the XVIII century.

Day 7 - Mountainous region Racha

We will travel to one of the most beautiful mountainous regions of Georgia - Racha.
Visiting Shaori Lake. The Lake is surrounded by forests and mountains, making it an attractive sight to see at any time of the year.
Nikortsminda Cathedral is a masterpiece of Georgian architecture. Built in the early 11th century, 1010-1014. This is the period when great attention was paid to the decorative decoration of the facades. In this regard, the decor of Nikortsminda is an achievement of Georgian monumental architecture.

Visit to Barakoni Church - one of the last important monuments of old Georgian domed architecture in Racha.
Departure in the direction of Oni. Oni is a small town in Upper Racha. Here we will visit the Ethnographic Museum. Unique exhibits from the Stone Age to the late feudal era are preserved here. Most of the exhibits belong to the Bronze Age. Visit to Oni Synagogue. Oni Synagogue is the third largest synagogue in Georgia.

Day 8 - Adjara region

Visiting Petra Fortress - Historical-Archaeological Complex Petra Fortress was built in the VI century by the order of Emperor Justinian. The fortress-town was distinguished by its unique military strategic and trade-economic location. The road that connected the eastern Black Sea coast - the central regions of Georgia, Byzantium, Armenia and Persia - passed through this territory.
Visit to Gonio Fortress. Gonio Fortress dates back to the 1st century. It had a unique strategic location and connected the Black Sea coast to the southwestern Georgia. Remains of a Roman garrison and a Roman bath are preserved here, along with other remarkable artefacts.
Batumi boulevard.
